Jason Hofer, Administrator

After serving on the board for 4 years, I became principal in August of 2014.
It is a privilege to be working with parents who deeply care about the spiritual well-being of their children, and be able to help these parents in their endeavors, by God's grace.
I enjoy the student interaction and relationships, especially because it is ongoing. I am able to watch them grow up and mature year by year.

Anthony Waldner, Grade 8

My time at HCS began in January of 2010, when a need was made known for another bus driver. There were two bus drivers at the time who were also both full-time teachers so I offered myself as a bus driver and did what I could to help out during the day. After serving in numerous positions over the next four years, I became the high school teacher in 2014.
I enjoy teaching and interacting with children, and specifically, with young adults. It has been most fulfilling to see boys and girls mature into responsible young people. Perhaps the greatest joy comes from the opportunity to teach God’s truth day after day, presenting Christ and his words as a real and tangible way to live life.
I look forward to the continued growth with which we as a school have been blessed over the years, as we all continue to learn from the Great Teacher.
My vision is for an increasing student body taught by an increasing number of individuals committed to following Christ and modelling his life.

Anila Penner, Grade 7

Teaching is an incredible opportunity to influence young people’s lives. I am especially passionate about reaching into the lives of pre-teens and teenagers, and I am grateful for the opportunity to do so at HCS this year. I endeavour to live by “my life is not my own”—putting Christ first, others next, and myself last.
I am excited both to see what the Lord will do in the lives of the students that daily sit before me and what He will continue to teach me in this chapter of life.

Anita Walter, Grade 6

I became a teacher before I knew it was my calling. I was a fill-in teacher for my sister after she got married and kept teaching the following year. Serving as a teacher at home eventually provided the opportunity for me to come to Hosanna. Teaching at Hosanna has been a tremendous blessing for me as I've seen God work in the hearts of students and at the same time transforming my life as well. I hope to continue teaching as long as He would have me to.

Andrea Leis, Grade 5

This is my second year here at Hosanna. My desire is that Jesus is lifted up and glorified in all that is done and said. Also that through this year the children would get a greater picture of who Jesus is and have a desire to follow Him with all their hearts! I enjoy teaching and seeing each child's eyes light up when a new concept is understood. Social Studies is one of my favourite subjects and is interesting to teach.
One of my favourite songs that is a prayer of mine goes like this:
Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don't know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown?
Will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?
Lord your summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you and never be the same.
In your company I'll go. Where your love and footsteps show.
Thus I'll move and live and grow in you and you in me.

Stephen Hofer, Grade 4

As I was growing up, my father's position as an administrator at Hosanna Christian School gave me strong fondness for the school; but being a teacher wasn't something I had aspired to become, though as a child I did entertain that possibility. When the Lord started to lead me in that direction the idea of teaching wasn't strange to me.
Being involved at Hosanna Christian School has instilled in me a deep appreciation for its mission, the children, and the opportunity to shape young minds into individuals Christ would have them become. What I find most rewarding about being a teacher is the prospect of influencing the eternal path of my students' souls. My aspiration for my students, as they move forward in life, is that they would have a deep reverence for God, a loving respect for authority figures, and a diligent work ethic which will benefit them in all aspects of life.

Jenna Newswanger, Grade 3

Ever since I was small, I’ve wanted to be a schoolteacher. When I heard about Hosanna, I knew this was where I wanted to fulfill that dream. I enjoy interacting with students and their culture and watching each unique personality come to life in the classroom. My desire is that my students not only grasp the concepts of multiplication or sentence structure but that their time as students at Hosanna would also equip and inspire them to follow Christ wholeheartedly.

Tabea Wall, Grade 2

My goal is to instill in my students a love for learning and good sportsmanship- but more importantly, a passion for God and a desire not only to please Him but also to serve Him. One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching their eyes light up when they grasp a new concept- it’s a moment that reminds me why I love what I do.

Salome Waldner, Teacher's Aide

I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be called a teacher. It was the last thing I thought I’d be pursuing, but the Lord had other plans for me as He opened the door for me to teach at Hosanna.
I love the heart and ministry of Hosanna: to teach young people and have them earn their education in a God-honouring way.
My prayer is that I will be able to serve in the best way I can and that the Lord will bless our efforts to reach His children.

Amaris Gross, Teachers' Aide

This is my first year teaching full-time at Hosanna. In previous years, I was involved on a part-time basis – helping out a couple times a month and occasionally filling in as a substitute. Those experiences opened my eyes to how vital it is to give the next generation a strong, Godly foundation on which to build their lives.
As I teach, my prayer is that I can inspire students to truly know and love God and help equip them for whatever God has planned for their future.
